Tencia Privacy Policy

Effective: 2026-10-11 · App: Tencia, call recorder for Android · Operated by REGEN NETWORKS (리젠네트웍스)

Tencia records calls automatically and keeps them on your phone. The developer never receives your recordings or call content. The consumer version of Tencia has no server.

What we don't collect

No call content, recordings, contacts, call-log lists, SMS content, location or advertising IDs are sent to the developer. There is no account and no email address to give. No advertising or analytics SDK is included.

What happens on the phone only

Call-state detection, recording, the recording list, level trim and automatic cleanup all run on the device. Recordings and their index live in the app's own storage. Names and notes you type onto a recording are stored on the device only. The other party's name read from a call screen or notification is also stored on the device only, as that recording's suggested name, so the list can show who the call was with (a name you type comes first); it is deleted with the recording. Only if “Include caller in file name” is on (on by default) do these names go into the file names of exported copies, which go to your own folder, Drive or NAS, never to the developer. Notes never go into file names (they do go into the small info file kept next to each copy, see below). Names you put in per-person rules (don't record, record only, auto-star) are also stored on the device and never reach the developer. The app does not read contacts.

When you switch phones: if the old phone runs Android 12 or later, Android's phone-to-phone transfer (cable or wireless) moves recordings, the list, names and notes, your per-person rules and the recording, playback and cleanup settings you chose to the new phone. It happens only between the two phones, is never uploaded to cloud backup and never reaches the developer. The PIN, recording lock, Drive and NAS connections are not moved.

The helper app that records calls (Tencia Helper)

During a call, Android blocks Tencia's microphone, so call audio is captured by the companion app Tencia Helper. It is made by the same developer, signed with the same key, and distributed outside Google Play at relay.regenntwrks.com/helper.

Using the accessibility permission, the helper reads only whether a call screen or a call alert is showing in phone, messenger or other calling apps, the one name field on that screen and, on calls you make, the call-time digits. It captures call audio from the microphone and hands both to Tencia on the same phone. The helper doesn't store the name. Tencia keeps it on the phone as that recording's suggested name (see above). It does not read phone numbers, contacts, call logs, message contents, notification text or the rest of the screen (for notifications it checks only whether one is a call alert), and it has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything off your phone. A calling app that is not on our list is recorded too when it shows a call alert while a call is going on; the recording gets only that app's name. For two calling apps we cannot yet recognize (QQ, Google Voice) it keeps only the type name of their call screen in its on-phone log, to prepare support; it never reads their text, the other party or the audio. The call-time digits tell it when the other person answered, so the ringback before that can be cut from the recording. The helper keeps what it captured on the phone until Tencia takes it. It deletes its copy as soon as Tencia has it, and deletes it by itself after 72 hours if Tencia never does. Recordings it captures are treated like any Tencia recording under this policy.

What leaves the phone, only when you connect it

If you connect a storage folder (Google Drive, OneDrive, NAS, …) or Google Drive, each finished recording is copied or uploaded there, and that service's own privacy policy applies to that copy. You can disconnect at any time in Settings; the developer has no access to that path.

So the list can be rebuilt from those copies if you lose your phone, a recording that has something worth keeping gets a small info file with the same name next to its copy (….tencia.json). It holds the call time and length, whether you made or took the call, which app it was in, your note, star and shake marks, and the other party's name only if “Include caller in file name” is on. It's rewritten when you change the note or star. It goes only to the place you connected, never to the developer.

Tencia (the Google Play app) has no location feature and no location permission. Only in the business app Tencia Pro, if you turn on “Remember where the call was taken” (off by default), those coordinates are sent once to the device's geocoding service (usually Google) to be turned into an address. The address text stays on your phone and never reaches the developer. Turn the setting off and nothing is sent.

Only if you choose to send an error report from the app, its activity log (recording start and end, device state and the like, without the other party's name, phone numbers or location) is handed to the app you pick (email or another; copied to the clipboard if there is none) and reaches the developer when you send it. Nothing is sent otherwise.

Permissions and why

The permissions of the helper app (accessibility, microphone, phone state, notifications) are described in the helper section above.

Retention

You choose it, and there are two separate settings:

Either way deletion cannot be undone, and starred recordings are never deleted.

Deleting

Deleting an item in the app's list deletes the file immediately. Uninstalling the app also deletes the recordings on the phone. If you tick keep app data in Android's uninstall dialog (off by default), the recordings and the list stay on the phone and come back when you install the same app again. Copies already uploaded to a drive or folder you connected must be deleted in that service.

Recording laws

Call-recording laws differ by country. Some countries require the other party's consent; others allow recording when you are a party to the call. Check the law where you live before you record, and get any consent you need.

Children

Not directed at children.
